LOCUS - I see this kid near where I live, always in the same spot.

I have been listening to this album extensively while writing my latest short film. The kind of music that takes you to another place. I also saw Olafur Arnalds play at the Melbourne Recital Center, with some local strings and the singer whom he collaborated with. All in all an hypnotic experience.

It’s Harmony Korine week! I don’t know how many people I have forced this short film on. It is just perfect. So wrong, so right.

Chino Moya is a music video/tvc director with an amazing eye. He turns regular cityscapes into spacious, post apocalyptic landscapes. There is a surrealism in the way his subjects are photographed. Here’s to hoping he produces some feature length work in the coming years.

Mister Lonely (2007) →

I knew I was going to like this film before I saw it. It definately has the markings of a Harmony Korine film; the unsettling weirdness. Though, this film comes off as far more light hearted than some of his other work(i.e Gummo). This is a strange tale about identity, belonging and belief. If you are are up for something offbeat and unique, watch it!

Jim Jarmusch: 'Cinema needs to be reduced to its essential poetry' →

"The things in the margins are more moving to me. Throughout history there has always been a mainstream culture, and a marginal culture, and the most innovative things are in the margins. Not always, but most often."

Some video talent from Barcelona. How did that city churn our so many filmmakers in the last decade? From what I can tell, his work is quite under appreciated with not very many views. He has done a few pieces like this. They all have this mesmerising quality to them. A journey into the Cosmos. He presents an uncanny world with barren landscapes in visual ecstasy. Worth a watch.

Such a cool concept. Imagine shooting a documentary or a film like this. No cuts in a scene?
